2021 - 2024

Sastra Ramanujan Prize - History & Background

2024

Dr. Alexander Dunn - Australia - Dr. Alexander Dunn was awarded the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize in 2024 for his significant contributions to analytic number theory, particularly his joint work with Maksym Radziwill in solving the Kummer-Patterson Conjecture on bias related to cubic Gauss sums. His research has advanced the understanding of modular forms and their connections to prime numbers and integer partitions.

2023

Dr. Ruixiang Zhang - China - Dr. Ruixiang Zhang was awarded the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize in 2023 for his outstanding contributions to in analytic number theory, combinatorics, Euclidean harmonic analysis, and geometry. Notably, in collaboration with Shaoming Guo, he proved a multivariable generalization of the main conjecture in Vinogradov's Mean Value Theorem, a major achievement in the field, along with solutions to long-standing problems in restriction theory.

2022

Dr. Yunqing Tang - China - Dr. Yunqing Tang was awarded the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize in 2022 for her outstanding contributions to arithmetic geometry and number theory. Her research focuses on Shimura varieties, Galois representations and the André-Oort conjecture. She has made significant progress in understanding the intersection of geometry and arithmetic, particularly in the context of Hodge theory and modular forms. Tang’s deep insights have advanced modern number theory in Ramanujan’s spirit.

2021

Dr. Will Sawin - France - Dr. Will Sawin was awarded the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize in 2021 for his groundbreaking work in number theory and algebraic geometry. He made significant contributions to the function field analogues of prime twins and Goldbach conjectures, and solved the function field analogue of Chowla's conjecture. His work also includes a geometric version of the Hardy-Littlewood-Ramanujan circle method. Additionally, his joint research with Emmanuel Kowalski and Philippe Michel on bilinear forms with Kloosterman sums resolved longstanding problems concerning moments of L-functions.
